How to Use FAHR FACE: A Step-by-Step Photo Guide

A practical guide to preparing a portrait, submitting an appearance-age test, understanding credits, and reading your FAHR FACE result responsibly.

FAHR FACE Editorial Team

FAHR FACE estimates the apparent age of an adult in a portrait. This guide walks through a test from photo selection to result, including what happens when you submit and how to interpret the number. For context about the technology and its limits, start with What Is FAHR FACE?.

Ready to begin? Go straight to the FAHR FACE photo studio. The studio is on the homepage; the button opens the photo-upload area.

1. Choose a suitable photo

Use a photo of yourself, and make sure you are at least 18. For a clearer input, choose a recent, front-facing portrait with the face in focus and evenly lit. A neutral or natural expression helps keep comparisons consistent. Avoid sunglasses, face coverings, strong shadows, extreme angles, motion blur, and heavy filters where possible.

The studio accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP files up to 5 MB. You can select a photo and inspect its local preview before starting. Choosing or previewing a file does not submit it and does not consume credits.

Before upload, consider image metadata. The service replaces the original filename but does not strip embedded metadata. Remove location or other metadata yourself if you do not want it included.

2. Sign in and review the consent

To run a test and keep a private result history, sign in to your account. Signing in by itself does not submit your photo. Read the consent and privacy notice before proceeding. The consent confirms that you are 18 or older, that the photo depicts you, and that you agree to processing by the FAHR-FaceAge service.

When you start the test, your selected image is sent through the site server to its hosted inference service. The site states that it does not intentionally store the original portrait in its own application database or object storage; it stores the estimate and the test record. Hosting infrastructure may process request data and operational logs under its own policies. Avoid uploading confidential clinical images or anything you are not comfortable submitting.

3. Check credits, then start one test

Each test uses 10 credits. Current one-time options are $10 for 30 credits, $20 for 100, and $50 for 500; purchased credits do not expire and do not renew automatically. See the pricing page for current details. Review the amount before you submit.

After selecting your photo, confirming consent, and ensuring you have enough available credits, choose the test button once. Keep the page open while the job runs. Results may take a short while because the portrait is sent to the inference service and the site checks for completion.

If the request fails and the failure is confirmed, reserved credits are released. If the service cannot confirm the outcome, the request may stay pending while it is reconciled; check your report history before starting another test with a new image. This helps avoid duplicate submissions or charges.

4. Read the result as an estimate

The result is an appearance-age estimate for that photo. It is not your verified age, a measure of biological age, a health score, or evidence of how long you will live. One number cannot account for the full context of a person or photograph.

If you compare images, keep the camera angle, lighting, distance, and expression similar. Differences can come from the photo or the model. Do not use the estimate for medical, employment, insurance, legal, identity, or other consequential decisions. For more context, read how face-age estimates differ from the FaceAge research model.

Troubleshooting

  • The file is rejected: confirm that it is a non-empty JPG, PNG, or WebP file and is no larger than 5 MB.
  • The test button is unavailable: make sure you are signed in, have selected a valid photo, checked the consent box, and have at least 10 available credits. Model availability can also affect submission.
  • The status is still pending or uncertain: check your report history before retrying. The site may be reconciling the submission to prevent duplicate charges.
  • The photo contains sensitive metadata: remove it before upload. The service does not strip embedded metadata.

Start your test

When you are ready, open the FAHR FACE studio, choose a portrait you are comfortable submitting, and follow the consent and credit steps. Read the privacy notice for details about processing, hosting, and data requests.
